The Hotel del Sole al Pantheon is located in the ancient historical centre of Rome in a small square called the Piazza della Rotonda, which is famous for the Pantheon. All of Rome’s most important tourist attractions i.e. the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, St. Peter’s and Piazza Navona are very close and the Hotel has the additional advantage of being close to Rome’s best nightlife including some excellent bars and restaurants. Minutes walk from the hotel del Sole al Pantheon you will find the shopping boulevards of via del Corso and via dei Condotti which offer some of the best boutique shopping in Rome.

The hotel is easily reachable from both airports and the main railway station in Rome, Termini. From Fiumicino (also known as Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport) take the shuttle train the “Leonardo Express” to Termini. The train departs every half hour and the journey time is approximately 40 minutes. From Termini railway station you can take a bus number 64 to Torre Largo Argentina (the place where Julius Ceasar was assassinated) and turn right up into via di Torre Argentina you will shortly arrive in the square which contains the Pantheon. The Albergo del Sole al Pantheon is on the right hand side of the Piazza. From Ciampino airport we recommend the Terravision shuttle bus service which departs every 15 minutes and arrives at Termini railway station. Journey time is approximately 40 minutes.

Driving Directions – as the hotel is located in the historical centre of Rome we suggest you park your car on the edge of town and take the excellent Rome public transport system. If you insist on driving into town then the Hotel del Sole al Pantheon concierge will be happy to organize parking for you in a nearby garage – a daily supplement applies. If arriving in Rome from the North then you should be on the A1 highway Milan-Rome. When you get to the outskirts of Rome follow the signs for Rome’s ringroad the G.R.A. Exit the GRA at “Salaria” or Salt Road and follow the city centre signs and in particular the signs for Piazza Venezia / Pantheon. If arriving in Rome from the South one should get onto the G.R.A (Grande Raccordo Anulare) and take the exit “Appia” Appian Way, follow the signs for the historical centre i.e. two concentric circles looking out for the signs for Piazza Venezia.

The only way natural light may enter the Pantheon is by a circular hole in the roof i.e. the Oculus, which is 27 feet in diameter. The Dome roof on top of the Pantheon is called the Rotunda and is a perfect sphere as the height 142 feet from the rotunda to the top of the Dome matches the exact Diameter of the Dome…
